Sharpie'd Out Lamborghini
September 10, 2008, 5:15 pm

I absolutely love cars. I love driving them. Reading about them. Looking at them. Making love in them... uhh... nevermind that last one... But seriously, I absolutely love cars. And unless you're my girlfriend, Kate, you probably wouldn't know this because I never talk about them here. I've never had a reason to do a post about cars, they just really aren't the focus of this site. That is until now. I came across this amazing piece of grafitti, I mean machinery, and I couldn't help but share it with you all.

Prestige Imports, in Miami, spent about 2 weeks laying down the ink on this Lamborghini Gallardo and then had it clear coated to keep it nice and pretty.

Who the F*CK is Sarah Palin
September 8, 2008, 5:19 pm

Throughout this whole clusterf*ck we call an election process, I've tried not throw my opinions out on to the internets, aside from that one little article leaking the news that Barack Obama selected Michael Phelps as his Vice President. However, in person I'll talk about the stuff going on. I try my hardest to stay open minded. I try to consider all point of views about both candidates, their Vice Presidents, and the type of campaigns they are running. I'd consider myself an independent, although if I had to choose I'm probably more towards the left than the right. I've read most of both John McCain's plan and Barack Obama's plan. Both have their good and bad sides. Both are equally generic. But I'd still encourage everyone to read them.

On to the reason for this blog posting. There's been a lot of hoopla about John McCain's pick for his Vice Presidential running mate, Sarah Palin. I have lots of opinions about his selection, but I'm not as good at summing it all up as Jon Stewart. If you're a Republican, you'll probably want to start putting your foot in your mouth now. This video is a must see, so without further ado, I present to you the "Sarah Palin Gender Card".

Google Banished Me
August 28, 2008, 11:49 am

So I've always been a big fan of Google; their search engine and their products. I'm a huge fan and user of Gmail, AdSense, Earth, SketchUp, etc. Lately there has been a lot of talk about how they are becoming just "another big corporation". They aren't taking care of their employees as well, and in turn the employees (including some big names) are leaving them. While all these articles have been an interesting read, it hasn't made me skip a bit when it comes to using their products. In fact, I'm so dependent on their products that I wasn't really too sure what would make me stop using them, or at least cutback a little. That is until now...

Early last week, I launched a mock news release about Barack Obama announcing Michael Phelps as his selection for Vice President. We made it look pretty legit, although obviously satirical. We sent out a fake "press release" to many national news channels. It was a good time and all in good fun. I received a lot of good feedback. If you Googled any combination of their names, the article was in the top of the results, for about the first week, then... it disappeared. Here is the full story in the actual email I sent to Google.

Summit County's First 2008/09 Snow
August 16, 2008, 3:42 pm

My good friend Travis does general contracting work up in Breckenridge. During his drive up there yesterday (August 15th) he took this picture of Summit County's first 2008/09 snow and emailed it to me. As with many of you that will see this photo, it brought a great big smile to my face. I'm already on the edge of my seat just waiting for opening day. Although it's extremely early to know, especially considering the drought Colorado has been in, I can't help but feel like this is a good sign of things to come this winter.

Update from France.
July 24, 2008, 3:58 pm

I guess technically we're in Switzerland right now. We've been here the past few days and it's been absolutely beautiful. Switzerland is a gorgeous country. Riding around in the back of a "7 passenger" van through the winding mountain roads with my dads stellar driving has been beyond uncomfortable, but the scenery has more than made up for it. Unfortunately you will have to wait to see the pictures from the Switzerland leg of the trip, there's just not enough time in the day to sort through them all and get them posted.

I have, however, gotten 101 of my favorite pics from Paris posted to the Idiom Life Flickr profile.

Huge Colorado Tornado Today
May 22, 2008, 2:09 pm

There's a big storm sweeping through our state today and it has produced a gigantic tornado that got caught on film by 9 News (KUSA). It's quite spectacular to watch.

The massive tornado ripped through Weld County, Colorado bringing with it golfball sized hail and leaving at least one person dead and an unknown amount of injuries. Lets hope those numbers don't rise. It's reported that there were up to 7 tornados from this storm. Visit 9news to stay updated.

Thrice Teaser
May 21, 2008, 1:07 am

So tonight I had the good fortune to attend the Thrice concert in Denver. It was a great show. Thrice truly has a great stage presence and performance. I also had the good fortune of receiving a photo pass. This is the first show I've got to shoot and it was great fun. I have a lot to learn when it comes to shooting a concert with the low lighting and all, but I'd say it was a good first try. Stay tuned for the full story (and maybe even an interview). As for now here are some photos to wet the appetite.

Circa Survive did a nice job of continuing to warm up the crowd after Pelican opened.

'Skurfing' the Streets in '65
May 17, 2008, 1:24 pm

"There's a new terror loose in the streets of the city! Probably the most organized attempt yet by children to dominate the world!"

This 1965 news report in Toronto talks about the new fad coming from California, it's called sidewalk surfing. In the clip CBC's Lloyd Robertson interviews an 18-year-old activist who rolls onto the screen in a dress and bouffant hairdo, if I had a time machine I would probably go back and marry her. The anchors compare 'skurfing' to hoola-hooping as well as make a projection that the fad is already dying out... Oh little did they know!

Long Drought & Learning About Myself
May 16, 2008, 9:23 am

So it's been a good two and a half weeks since my last entry. Sorry. I know you browsers of the internets can't handle not having new content everyday. I'll be working on that. During this two weeks and some odd days of blogging drought i've learned a lot about myself. Kind of... I've learned what my problems are, but haven't been able to figure out the solutions yet. For some reason I'm either completely motivated or not motivated at all. And worst of all I haven't figured out a way to control it. It just comes and goes as it pleases. I know in my head the things I need to and want to get done, but at the same time, that very head cannot get my body to actually do any of it. So I'm going to try and take a new approach; Just plain and simple self-discipline. For instance, right now I have absolutely no motivation to be writing this entry, and it probably shows in the quality of this post. But I also know that waiting for my next spurt of motivation isn't going to get anything accomplished. Research shows that it takes 21 days to form a new habit, so for the next 21 days (excluding the days I have no computer) I'm going to be adding at least one entry a day, after that we'll see if it's become a habit. If it doesn't? Well, I'll be trying again for another 21 days because as of right now, I'm the only one here to do it. Wish me luck!

Updates About the Site
So as most of you have probably noticed not much has changed on the site since the addition of the ShoutBox, of which is not getting much attention, so go show it some love. However, there are some updates coming over the next week. Here's what to keep an eye out for:

  • A New Interview
  • A New Article
  • RSS Feeds
  • Contact Form
  • More AJAX Functionality
  • Site Map

So keep an eye out for these new updates. I'm also going to be trying to get the Symposiarch up and running this coming week so make sure you're enlisted on the homepage. I'm extremely excited about the new interview. The new article isn't quite as exciting, but it's a gem in the fact you can't find it anywhere else on the interwebs. So Keep checking in!

Thanks for the continued support!
